For disadvantaged matric girls, whose parents cannot afford the luxury of an expensive new dress, the looming matric dance event becomes a source of anxiety, despair and disappointment. While we're unable to permanently uplift their financial status, together, we can be their fairy godmothers who grant these deserving young ladies at least one unforgettable night of fun and excitement - in style...!
Thanks to several generous clients who chose to share their material blessings, we were able to donate dresses on their behalf. Their stylish contributions helped make up a glamour box which was gifted to the matric girls at Himalaya Secondary School in Laudium, Pretoria. Through this donation, underprivileged recipients selected on merit will experience the fabulous feeling of looking like radiant starlets on their matric dance night.
On Monday, 13 May 2019, the glamour donation box was accepted by the school’s principal Mr Padayachee and deputy principal Mr Ganie Ismail, who both expressed their gratitude for having items which they will use as incentives to reward girls who excel academically and thus earn these special dresses.
The parcel was our first charitable giveaway, but we aim to continually gather glamorous garments with the intention of carrying out this act of kindness on a regular basis, since it’s central to our eco-conscious mission; lessen textile waste by repurposing pre-owned clothes that are still in a great condition.
OUR NEXT GLAMOUR BOX...
The next batch of dresses will be donated to girls at Voortrekkerhoogte High School on 16 July 2019, so to add one of your gently-worn evening dresses OR to sponsor a pre-owned dress from our collection, please get in touch!
